The Steelheads end their holdout of first rounder Tanner Adams, dealing the forward to Sudbury
The Brampton Steelheads have dealt forward Tanner Adams to the Sudbury Wolves in exchange for multiple draft picks.
Sudbury deals 15 draft picks, including five second rounders and a compensatory fifth overall pick, along with three third round picks, two fourth rounders, two fifth round picks, a sixth round pick, and a 10th rounder.
Adams, 16, was drafted by the Steelheads in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection, third overall. However, Adams chose not to report to Brampton, holding out for a trade to somewhere closer to his hometown of Porcupine, ON, just outside of Timmins.
Adams played Prep school hockey for the Hill Academy last season, having 34 goals, 54 assists, & 88 points in 52 games on the year.
While holding out from Brampton, Adams began this season in the NOJHL with the Timmins Rock, where he had two points in three games. Adams is expected to report to Sudbury.
After having finished last in goals scored with 164, the Steelheads were banking on Adams as a potential answer to their lack of scoring right away.
Brampton got relief in their second round pick after high-scoring forward Arjun Nanubhai surprisingly fell out of the first round, but in trading Adams will be a disappointment for a Steelheads team in need for long-term offensive support.
