London deals former top-five pick Braidy Wassilyn to Saginaw for offensive forward Carson Harmer
The Saginaw Spirit have acquired forward Braidy Wassilyn from the London Knights in exchange for forward Carson Harmer and a fourth round 2027 OHL Priority Selection draft pick.
Wassilyn, 18, is on his third OHL team, having been dealt to London from the Niagara IceDogs in exchange for Anaheim Ducks forward prospect Noah Read. Niagara drafted Wassilyn fourth overall in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection.
In 61 games split between Niagara and London last season, Wassilyn had 19 goals, 27 assists, & 46 points, but went undrafted in the 2026 NHL Draft despite his past promise.
Wassilyn is committed to play college hockey at Boston University, expected to join the Terriers next year for the 2027-28 NCAA season.
Harmer, 19, was a third round pick of Saginaw in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection, 44th overall. Harmer has spent the last two seasons with the Spirit, scoring 18 goals, 26 assists, & 44 points in 66 games last season. Harmer has 41 goals, 53 assists, & 94 points in 134 career OHL games.
Both Wassilyn and Harmer are smaller, offensive oriented forwards who show the potential to be leading scorers for their respective teams next season, where both have struggled in defensive usage in the OHL.
Wassilyn has been with the Montreal Canadiens at the team's development camp. Harmer has not been with an NHL club, but spent last season at rookie camp with the Utah Mammoth.
