Oshawa has finally inked top pick Kane Cloutier to a deal
The Oshawa Generals have announced the signing of top draft pick, forward Kane Cloutier, to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Cloutier was the first overall pick of the Oshawa Generals in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection. With the GTHL Vaughan Kings last season, Cloutier had 32 goals, 26 assists, & 58 points in 33 games.
In a statement released by the Generals, Oshawa GM Roger Hunt welcomed Cloutier to the team following a lengthy wait for the forward's signing.
It’s great to get Kane officially signed to be a General. Kane embraces and wants all the same things that we do. He wants to get into the playoffs and win a championship. That’s how he is wired, and that is how he is driven. I know that our fans are excited to see Kane in a Gens uniform and get his Oshawa Generals career underway.
Along with Cloutier, second overall pick Colin Kennedy also signed today with the Erie Otters, along with the 19th overall pick, Braden Reilly, signing with the Kitchener Rangers.
Cloutier is the son of former OHLer and NHLer Dan Cloutier, a netminder who played for the Soo Greyhounds and Guelph Storm before spending parts of NHL 10 seasons with four teams, primarily with the Vancouver Canucks.
The elder Cloutier was drafted 26th overall in the 1994 NHL Draft by the New York Rangers and 15th by the Greyhounds in the 1992 OHL Priority Selection. His brother, Sylvain, is also a former NHLer who also played for Guelph.
