The Austrian forward will head to Erie for the 2026-27 campaign.
OHL training camps are right around the corner, and time is ticking for teams to get their signings in before welcoming their players in for camp in the fall.
The Erie Otters got an import addition through the door on Tuesday, announcing the signing of Austrian forward Paul Schuster, the team's recent 19th overall pick in the 2026 import draft.
Schuster, 17, comes over from the Red Bull hockey academy in Salzburg, where he split last season playing at the U20 and main AlpsHL levels. In 16 games at the U20 level, he recorded 21 (9+12) points, while adding 13 (5+8) points in 26 games in the top AlpsHL division.
The 5-foot-10 winger is also a feature with the Austrian youth national teams, appearing at the U18 and U20 levels last year, including recording three assists in five games at the U18 Worlds division 1B tournament, where he served as an alternate captain.
“We are excited that [Schuster] and his family have chosen to continue his development in Erie,” Otters director of hockey operations Scott Grieve said in a press release.
“We believe [Schuster] fits in well with our group of forwards. We envision his professional and international experience being a valuable addition to our team as we head into next season and beyond.”
The Vienna-born forward is expected to be in Erie's training camp as it opens in a little over a week's time, according to the Otters.
