The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect has been awarded the Wayne Gretzky '99' Award as the most valuable player in the 2026 OHL playoffs.

The year of dominance for Sam O'Reilly continues.

As the Kitchener Rangers swept the Barrie Colts to capture their fifth OHL title, the most key of their deadline acquisitions has walked away with even more hardware to his name.

After already winning the regular season MVP award, O'Reilly has now also been awarded the Wayne Gretzky '99' Award as the playoff MVP in 2026.

The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect recorded 17 goals and 11 assists in 18 playoff games in Kitchener's championship run, including many clutch moments along the way.

It should be no surprise O'Reilly has been as experienced as he played this post-season, as it's far from his first rodeo. In fact, this is now his third straight J. Ross Robertson Cup, alongside fellow trade addition Jared Woolley from London this season.

The beauty of 'Peanut' is his versatility and two-way play. On top of all the offence he provided, the defensive game is just as important. The Toronto native is used as a matchup centre, a key member of the penalty kill that operated at 88.7%, and scored six shorthanded goals to boot.

O'Reilly will continue to lead the way for the Rangers as they head to Kelowna for the Memorial Cup for the first time since 2008.
