The P.E.I. native will join the University of Maine after four seasons with the Islanders.

With the new CHL/NCAA eligibility rules, it provides many pathways for junior players across North America, but also some big decisions to be made around timing and where to go.

Charlottetown Islanders forward Ross Campbell has made his decision for the future, heading down to the University of Maine for the 2026-27 campaign, rather than playing as an overager in the Q.

Campbell, 19, was a fourth-round pick in the 2022 QMJHL draft, and played all four of his seasons in the league with the Islanders.

The Souris, P.E.I., native grew from a depth forward to a key contributor for his hometown team, culminating in a 28-goal, 67-point season in 2025-26.

Now, Campbell heads to Maine, forgoing his overage season. He'll likely meet up with fellow commit and current teammate Jude Herron there, as well.

For Charlottetown, this move probably isn't too big of a surprise, considering a player of his calibre will always have inquiries down south, and will be able to play a solid role at a strong program.
