Chicoutimi put up the most dominant performance we've seen in the QMJHL this season with a 13-1 win over Drummondville.

Friday's QMJHL action saw multiple big blowouts, but none bigger than what Chicoutimi did to Drummondville.

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens clearly did not take kindly to losing their first game in nine on Thursday, because they rebounded with what is likely the most dominant performance of the QMJHL season on Friday.

What makes the 13-1 victory even more impressive is that it came against a Drummondville side that entered the game in excellent form, and had been playing so well of late that this publication decided to move them into the top tier on the most recent edition of the power rankings.

Chicoutimi decided to show the gap between themselves, the true elite of the league, and Drummondville.

The party started early with a Liam Lefebvre goal 3:40 into the contest, and that was followed by five more Saguenéens goals, from Thomas Desruisseaux, Emile Guite and a hat trick from Maxim Masse.

Antoine Boudreau would get one back for the Voltigeurs, but the hosts would head to the first intermission with a 6-1 lead, and a 25-8 lead in shots on goal.

The second was comparatively quiet, with Masse's fourth of the game holding as the only goal of the middle period.

If you thought that would mean the Sags would take the third period to coast to an easy win, you would be wrong.

They matched their first period totals with six more goals, spreading the love between Emile Ricard, Alonso Gosselin, Lefebvre, Alex Huang, Desruisseaux and Anton Linde to cap off a 13-goal performance in front of the home fans.

The shots ended 60-27, as the Saguenéens just piled on offence the entire evening.

Masse's six-point (4+2) outing led the way, while Desruisseaux (2+4) also had a six-point showing (and led the way with a +7 rating).

Emmannuel Vermette had five assists, Huang had a goal and three assists, Guite had a goal and two assists, four more Sags had two-point nights, with six more having a single point on the night.

Only three players on Chicoutimi did not put up a point. Lucas Beckman stopped 26 of 27 shots sent his way, but he probably didn't even need to show up with how the offence played.

On the other side, every single Volts player was a minus, with Owen Keefe and Owen Ronson tying for a team-worst -6. Poor Jan Larys between the pipes was left in for all 13 goals, and had to save 47 other shots along the way.

After losing the top spot in the QMJHL with Thursday's results, this win combined with Moncton's loss means the Saguenéens reclaim the no. 1 seed in the league for the time being.
