Coming off a gold medal Hlinka-Gretzky Cup campaign with Canada, Newfoundland Regiment defenceman Quinn Norman has announced a future step in his hockey career.
The St. John's native will join Boston University of the NCAA following his QMJHL career, expected to be in the 2028-29 season. He announced this commitment this morning via Instagram.
Norman, 16, was the sixth-overall pick in the 2025 QMJHL draft, where the Regiment took a local kid with their franchise's first ever pick.

(Photo: Jeff Parsons)In his rookie season, the 6-foot, 165-pound blueliner recorded 13 (1+12) points in 58 regular-season games, and followed that up with a pair of assists in 12 playoff games.
Norman's biggest strength is his skating, where his effortless stride and mobility allow him to cover a ton of ice both offensively and defensively. He's not the biggest player, but he's able to fill a lot of gaps with how well he moves.
The elite skating is what has endeared the Newfoundlander to Hockey Canada, who have brought him to the U17 World Challenge last year, as well as this year's Hlinka.
The 2026-27 campaign should see Norman take a bigger role with the Regiment, and due to his December 2009 birthday, he won't be eligible for the NHL draft until 2028.
So, for now, it's back to work in the QMJHL for Norman as Newfoundland's training camp starts up later this month.
