The former third-round pick will be given a chance to kickstart his QMJHL career with Blainville-Boisbriand.
The QMJHL's summer trade window is rolling along, and two of last season's semifinalists have now completed a deal.
That trade is between the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Moncton Wildcats, with the deal sending Camden Jackson to the Armada alongside 2028 seventh- and 11th-round picks in exchange for Halifax's second-rounder in 2027 and a fifth in 2028.
Jackson, 17, was a third-round pick in the 2025 QMJHL draft to Moncton, but didn't get into a game on a stacked Wildcats blue line last season.
Instead, the Châteauguay, Que., native played his season at the U18 AAA level, scoring a very impressive 36 (4+32) points in 39 games for the Châteauguay Grenadiers, which was good for fourth on the team in scoring.
A high-end skater, Jackson is able to close plays off the rush and then turn the play the other way up the ice thanks to his mobility. He took some big steps offensively in a bigger role last season for the Grenadiers, and now seems poised to step into QMJHL action for his 17-year-old season.
But, with Moncton making a number of additions to their blue line in recent weeks, including Shayne Gould, Jake Boguniecki and Chris Baird-Gajdos, it felt as though Jackson's path would once again be blocked.
Now, he'll get a chance with Blainville-Boisbriand, who are undergoing a fair bit of turnover after an all-in 2025-26 season. A strong season with the Armada could see some draft attention for the 6-foot-2 defender.
