Saint John continues to add to an extremely competitive roster, adding import Ozogany.
The Saint John Sea Dogs are building an impressive roster ahead of the 2026-27 season, and just made another sizeable addition to that on Thursday.
That addition is the signing of Slovak import Oliver Ozogany, a 6-foot-2 winger who's projected to be a top pick in the 2027 NHL draft.
Ozogany, 17, joins the QMJHL after one season in the USHL's Tri-City Storm, where he scored 17 (9+8) points in 56 games.
The Bratislava native is one of the top prospects in Slovak hockey, and is just coming off of a solid performance in his country's top-four finish at the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.
Ozogany has also represented Slovakia at last year's Hlinka-Gretzky tournament, as well as the IIHF U18 worlds this past spring.
Developing as a youth in the HOBA Bratislava system, the big winger moved to the U.S. for the 2023-24 season, at an age of just 14. There, he joined the Oakmoor Academy Patriots 15U program based out of Iowa.
Then, he moved to Ohio for 2024-25, joining the Cleveland Barons system, where he scored a ridiculous 144 (59+85) points in 59 AAA games at the 15U level. That garnered him a ton of interest, where he then joined the USHL for last year.
So, Ozogany is no stranger to moving around in his young hockey career, and will continue that trend as he joins the Sea Dogs.
In Saint John, he'll join a team looking to make a big splash in 2026-27. Led by young star Alexis Joseph, the team is looking to make some serious noise in what projects to be a very strong Maritime division next year.
They've already added a projected first-rounder in American Jamie Glance, as well as a trade for a top Q goaltender in Samuel Meloche. Other additions like Thomas Charbonneau and Ryan Howard fit the age profile, and really help round out this roster.
