Drummondville Voltigeurs goaltender Riley Mercer has just wrapped up an impressive QMJHL career.

Spanning 150 games and winning 82 with a .907 average save percentage -- all with the Volts -- Mercer also collected a QMJHL championship in 2024 and garnered the league's best save percentage amongst starters this season with a .925 across 46 games.

Now, the 21-year-old goaltender has been rewarded with a three year entry level contract from the Minnesota Wild

The deal makes him the second Mercer to secure an NHL deal, with brother and fellow QMJHL veteran Dawson being the other for New Jersey.

The signing goes to show that while many overagers are opting to continue their hockey career in college, thanks to the new NCAA deal, undrafted players will still have the opportunity to jump directly into pro hockey.

Mercer's deal will start in 2025-26, likely starting in the ECHL before moving up to the AHL.
