Royals, Tigers and Chiefs crack the CHL Top-10
Every week, the CHL releases a list of the top-10 teams in the league. Throughout the season, we at The Hockey News will be keeping track of which WHL teams are in the rankings, as well as who finishes the year ranked highest. Here is a look at the three WHL teams that made the 2026-27 Week 3 rankings.
No. 3 - Victoria Royals
Despite sliding two spots from last week's No. 1 ranking, the Victoria Royals remain the highest-ranked WHL club in the country. The slight dip reflects a highly competitive week across the CHL rather than a drop in on-ice performance, as Dallas Stars prospect Cameron Schmidt continues to fill the net.
No. 5 - Medicine Hat Tigers
Climbing one spot from last week, the Medicine Hat Tigers break into the national top five. Their offense remains an absolute juggernaut, suffocating opponents with relentless transition speed and high-volume shot generation. 2027 NHL Draft prospects Noah Davidson and Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll continue to elevate their draft stock alongside the likes of Pittsburgh Penguins prospects Liam and Markus Ruck.
No. 8 - Spokane Chiefs
The Spokane Chiefs make a massive statement in Week 3, leaping into the CHL Top 10 and replacing Calgary as the WHL's third nationally ranked franchise. Spokane’s surge is driven by an overwhelming core of NHL-affiliated talent, featuring Chase Harrington (Calgary), Tyus Sparks (Washington), Owen Martin (Winnipeg), and Nathan Mayes (Toronto).
