Standouts from Week 2 of the 2026-27 WHL Season.
Welcome to THN's "WHL Standouts Of The Week" article. In this weekly column, we highlight one player from each division who impressed over the last week. Here are four standouts from Week 2 of the 2026-27 season.
Madden Daneault- Kelowna Rockets
A future star in the WHL has officially arrived. Kelowna Rockets forward Madden Daneault had an impressive weekend as he scored his first career WHL goal while recording three points in two games. Drafted first overall in 2026, announcers around the league will need to get used to calling Daneault goals, as the 15-year-old has a very bright future.
Beckett Hamilton- Red Deer Rebels
Beckett Hamilton made the hats fly this weekend. The Red Deer Rebels forward scored a hat trick on Friday and followed it up with a two-point night on Saturday. With five points in two games, Hamilton is already near the top of the league in scoring.

Two stars, two shutouts. Thanks to a 32-save performance on Saturday, Seattle Thunderbirds goaltender Grayson Malinoski has been unbeatable to start his WHL season. At this rate, Malinoski could be on track to set a new WHL shutout record this year.
Ryley Budd- Brandon Wheat Kings
Another goalie who was impressive this weekend was Ryley Budd. The Brandon Wheat Kings goaltender stood on his head this past Friday as he stopped 40 of the 42 shots he faced. Budd is now a perfect 2-0-0-0 on the campaign and has made 82 saves through two starts.
