A deep dive into the Colorado Avalanche's WHL prospect pool.
Welcome to this edition of the 2026 WHL Prospect Pools. Throughout the 2026 off-season, we will be looking at current or recently graduated WHLers who have been drafted or signed by NHL clubs. Today's organization is the Colorado Avalanche.
Colorado added two WHLers to their prospect pool during the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. The Avalanche selected Red Deer Rebels forward Beckett Hamilton in the third round before drafting Wenatchee Wild goaltender Tobias Tvrznik in the fourth. Both players attended the Avalanche's 2026 Development Camp.
Starting with Hamilton, he had an impressive second season in the WHL. The 18-year-old recorded 62 points in 67 games and was part of Canada's 2026 U18 team. Hamilton is returning to the WHL for the 2026-27 season and has already been named the Rebels captain.
As for Tvrznik, the 2025-26 season was his rookie campaign in the WHL. The 18-year-old made a strong impression, posting a 16-18-4 record with a .913 save percentage and one shutout. Next season, Tvrznik will be headed to the NCAA to join the Ohio State University.
