A deep dive into the Toronto Maple Leafs' WHL prospect pool
Welcome to this edition of the 2026 WHL Prospect Pools. Throughout the 2026 off-season, we will be looking at current or recently graduated WHLers who have been drafted or signed by NHL clubs. Today's organization is the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Maple Leafs' organization is filled with former WHLers. This includes three who played in the WHL last season. Here is a look at Miroslav Holinka, Ethan MacKenzie and Zach Olsen.
Kicking off the list is Holinka, who played his WHL career with the Edmonton Oil Kings. The 20-year-old forward was drafted in 2024 and recorded 80 points in 59 games. Holinka recorded 125 points in 106 career regular-season games and is projected to head to the AHL next year.
Up next is MacKenzie, who also played his WHL career in Edmonton. The 19-year-old defenceman was drafted in June and played 189 games for the Oil Kings, where he posted 108 points. MacKenzie is headed to the NCAA, where he will play for the University of North Dakota.

The 18-year-old forward has spent his WHL career with the Saskatoon Blades and has recorded 57 points in 118 games. Olsen is also NCAA-bound and will be joining Colorado College.
