A deep dive into the Philadelphia Flyers' WHL prospect pool.
Welcome to this edition of the 2026 WHL Prospect Pools. Throughout the 2026 off-season, we will be looking at current or recently graduated WHLers who have been drafted or signed by NHL clubs. Today's organization is the Philadelphia Flyers.
This past season, four Flyers draft picks played in the WHL. Two prospects were selected in 2025, while the other two heard their names called in June. Here is a look at the four players.
The first prospect drafted in 2025 is forward Matthew Gard. The 19-year-old recorded 33 points in 55 games split between the Red Deer Rebels and Seattle Thunderbirds. Gard is projected to return to the WHL next year for his fourth season.
The other player drafted in 2025 is defenceman Luke Vlooswyk. The 19-year-old split the season between the Rebels and Everett Silvertips, where he recorded 11 points in 63 games. Vlooswyk played a key role for Everett this year as they made a run to the 2026 Memorial Cup Final.
As for the 2026 draft, Philadelphia added another Silvertips defenceman in Brek Liske. The 18-year-old had 24 points in 52 regular-season games before adding 17 points in 18 playoff games. During the post-season and Memorial Cup, Liske played on Everett's top pairing while also featuring heavily on special teams.
The final prospect from the 2026 draft is goaltender Marek Sklenička. The 17-year-old had an impressive rookie campaign, posting a 20-12-6 record with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Sklenička also represented Czechia multiple times this past year, including at the 2026 U18s.
