The Spokane Chiefs center is ranked ninth among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.
On Friday, the CHL announced that Spokane Chiefs forward Berlky Catton would be one of the captains at this year's CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Ranked ninth among North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting, Catton will captain Team White, coached by Jim Hulton of the Charlottetown Islanders and Mike Kelly, who will serve as an honorary coach. Team White's leadership group will also include Rimouski Océanic defenceman Spencer Gill and Ottawa 67's defenceman Henry Mews, who are both ranked in the top 40 among North American Skaters.
As for Team Red, they will also have a WHL representative as part of their leadership group, with Red Deer Rebels forward Ollie Josephson wearing an "A" for his team. Ranked 43rd among North American Skaters, he will be coached by Moncton Wildcats' Daniel Lacroix and honorary coach Gerard Gallant. Joining Josephson as part of Team Red's leadership group is captain Sam Dickinson, who plays defence for the London Knights, and Maxim Massé, who plays forward for the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. Both players are ranked within the top 25 for North American Skaters and are projected to be first-rounders in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.
This year's event will take place in Moncton, New Brunswick, on Jan. 23 and 24, 2024. 18 WHLers were selected to participate in both the fitness testing and the game, but that number may change as Cayden Lindstrom has been ruled out of the event. Fans can watch the game live on TSN starting at 4:00 PM PT on the 24th.
