The 2026 U17 World Challenge kicks off on November 1, 2026.

Team Canada played in two U17 World Challenge pre-tournament games on Friday, picking up one win and one loss. Canada Red defeated Czechia 6-2, while Canada White fell 7-2 to Team USA. Both games featured WHLers hitting the scoresheet, but the biggest performance came from Regina Pats forward Maddox Schultz from Team Canada White.

Schultz finished the pre-tournament game with two assists. The first came on an all-WHL goal as Kelowna Rockets forward Madden Daneault found the back of the net, with Vancouver Giants defender Crosby Mateychuk recording the other assist. Moose Jaw Warriors goaltender Dylan Mingo played half the game for Team Canada White, as he stopped 15 of the 20 shots he faced.

Over on Team Canada Red, a few WHLers landed on the scoresheet during their win. Pats forward had a primary assist, while Everett Silvertips forward Reid Nicol also recorded a helper. The 2026 U17 World Challenge begins on November 1, when both Canadian squads will be in action.
