Amid a lack of on-ice moves, Everett shakes things up in the front office with a semi-familiar face.
The Silvertips announced on Thursday that 18-year veteran of the WHL, Mike Fraser will become the fourth General Manager in team history.
Fraser, a longtime scout in the league- 16 years split between the Swift Current Broncos, Brandon Wheat Kings, and Silvertips- earns himself a promotion after spending the last two seasons as Assistant General Manager to Dennis Williams.
“My goal with the Silvertips continues to be a focus on developing exciting prospects on the ice and quality people that our community can be proud of,” Fraser said in a press release. “I also want to continue the winning tradition in Silvertip Country, and I greatly look forward to what lies ahead.”
Prior to taking a management role, Fraser had a large voice in drafting future NHL-bound talent; Ben Hemmerling (Vegas Golden Knights) and Austin Roest (Nashville Predators) both became impact players with Everett and after being selected in the 2023 NHL Draft, look to make their mark on the next level.
As a team, the Silvertips last season finished with their best result since 2017-18 when they made it to the second round but were ultimately eliminated by the Portland Winterhawks in four games.
Now with 2024 first-overall pick Landon Dupont and several other strong draft selections at his disposal, Everett with Fraser at the helm is poised to make a deep playoff run sooner rather than later.
