Evan Gardner is the latest WHLer to sign his entry-level contract. The Saskatoon Blades goaltender signed his ELC with the Columbus Blue Jackets, who selected him 60th overall at the 2024 NHL draft. Gardner is one of three Blue Jackets prospects currently in the WHL, with the other two being Medicine Hat Tigers Cayden Lindstrom and Tri-City Americans Charlie Elick.
Gardner has made quite the impression during his two seasons in the WHL. He has a record of 43-17-6 and helped the Blades to an appearance in last year's Eastern Final. In 41 games this season, Garnder has 22 wins and is coming off back-to-back shutouts.
As for Saskatoon, they are currently competing for top spot in the East Division. The Blades have already clinched a berth in the postseason and have 36 wins through 65 games. If Saskatoon is going to make another run, they will need Garnder to deliver some standout performances, as he did during the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
