The Seattle Thunderbirds have claimed the final spot in the 2025 WHL Playoffs. Seattle was able to secure their place after the Victoria Royals defeated the Kamloops Blazers on Tuesday night. Seattle missed the postseason in 2023-24 but had made the playoffs nine consecutive times before that.

With 59 points in 65 games, the Thunderbirds will enter the postseason as the number eight seed. This means they will face off against the Everett Silvertips in what should be a thrilling series for both the players and fans. Seattle has played Everett eight times this year and has posted a record of 2-6-0-0.

The Thunderbirds are full of young talent that could surprise come playoff time. In net, they have Scott Ratzlaff, who is coming off another strong season, while they are led by offensively by 2025 NHL draft prospect Braeden Cootes, who is projected to be a first-round pick. Another player to keep an eye on is defenceman Radim Mrtka, who could hear his name called in the top 10 this coming June.

Seattle will kick off their postseason on March 28. They will host Games 3 and 4 on April 1 and 4, while Game 6 is scheduled for April 7. Tickets for the playoffs will be sold on March 21, 2025.
