The WHL is set to play a significant role in this year's 2024 NHL Draft. 57 players were included on NHL Central Scouting's final rankings, with a handful expected to be drafted in the first round. Today's draft profile is of Kelowna Rockets' Hiroki Gojsic, who enters the draft as the 63rd-ranked North American Skater.

Gojsic made a strong impression during his rookie WHL season. Listed at 6'2", 198 pounds, the Rockets' winger scored 21 goals and recorded 50 points. A combination of size and speed, he is a player who kept improving throughout the season and should be very difficult to shut down next year.

In the offensive zone, Gojsic showed he could score in many different ways. He has a great shot that can beat goaltenders from distance while also having the ability to crash the net and score from tight angles. Gojsic is also a player who understands how to use size in front of the net, as he can win net-front battles and avoid stick lifts from defenders.

In the transition, Gojsic elects to carry the puck out of the defensive zone before finding a teammate. One of his strengths is his ability to read the play and hit his linemates with accurate passes at full speed. More often than not, he helps get the puck into the offensive zone, creating scoring chances for both his teammates and himself.

The next step in Gojsic development will be refining his overall game. This includes his playmaking and work in the defensive zone. The good news is, based on his progression last season, he should be able to continually improve and turn into one of the top players in the Western Conference.

As for draft position, Gojsic is projected to go in the fourth round. Based on his skill set, he has the potential to be a bottom-six forward at the pro level who can deliver big hits and use his size to win board battles consistently. There is no doubt he has potential and should develop into a top prospect over the next few seasons.
