Gavin McKenna is not the holder of an impressive CHL record. With his assist on Oasiz Wiesblatt's goal on Saturday night, the 17-year-old extended his point streak to 51 games. That is now a CHL modern-era record (2000-2005), surpassing Québec Remparts Alexander Radulov, who recorded a 50-game point streak during the 2005-06 season and playoffs.

The numbers behind McKenna's steak don't look real at first glance. During the 51 games that started on November 6, the Medicine Hat Tigers forward has 39 goals, 90 assists, and 129 points. This means that during his streak, McKenna is averaging 2.53 points per game.

At this point, it is hard to imagine McKenna not going first overall in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. He has seven points in his last two games, and is already up to 29 in 11 post-season games this year. Among McKenna's accomplishments include being named CHL Rookie of the Year and representing Canada at the U18s, Hlinka Gretzky Cup and the World Juniors.

As for the Tigers, McKenna's five-assist effort helped propel them to a 2-0 series lead over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Medicine Hat is 10-1 in the post-season, and has not lost a game since April 1. The Tigers will look to extend their win streak on Tuesday, when the series shifts to Lethbridge.
