These three Bruins had big years in 2023-24.
After losing Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Tyler Bertuzzi, Dmitry Orlov, and many others this past offseason, the expectation was that the Boston Bruins would take a major step back this season. Instead, they finished the year as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Many of their players significantly stepped up to allow the Bruins to have so much success this regular season. As a result, let's go over three players who had career years for Boston in 2023-24.
What a year it was for Charlie Coyle. Due to Bergeron and Krejci retiring, the Massachusetts native was promoted to a top-six role, and he took advantage of it. The 32-year-old center set new career-highs with 25 goals and 60 points in 82 games.

Coyle was nothing short of outstanding for the Bruins this season and did exactly what the Bruins needed from him. Let's see how he builds off it during the playoffs.
During the 2023 NHL Offseason, the Seattle Kraken elected not to give Morgan Geekie a qualifying offer, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent. The 25-year-old center signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Bruins, and the hope was that he would break out in Boston. He surely did that.

Geekie emerged as a massive part of the Bruins' top nine this campaign, posting new career-highs with 17 goals, 22 assists, and 39 points in 76 games. He exceeded expectations in a big way.
Trent Frederic took a big step forward for the Bruins during the 2022-23 season, recording 17 goals and 31 points in 79 games. With numbers like these, he cemented himself as a true third-line forward in the NHL. However, he improved even further this campaign, posting new career-highs with 18 goals, 22 assists, and 40 points in 82 games.

Frederic was such a crucial part of the Bruins' offense this regular season and gave them the secondary scoring they desperately needed. However, he also took his physicality up a whole new level, recording a career-high 204 hits.
