Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been named the Original Six club's nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is given to the player "who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community."
Each team has one player nominated for the award, and a committee consisting of commissioner Gary Bettman and former King Clancy Trophy winners will choose this year's winner. The winner of the award will then receive a $25,000 donation to use for a charity of their choosing.
McAvoy being the Bruins' nominee for the King Clancy Trophy is entirely understandable, as he is well-known for his off-ice contributions and is, of course, a key leader in Boston's room.
In 50 games this season with the Bruins, McAvoy had seven goals, 16 assists, 23 points, and 89 hits. His last game for the Bruins this campaign was on Feb. 8 against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Bruins Key Forward Finishing The Season Red-Hot
Elias Lindholm's first season with the Boston Bruins has not gone according to plan for the 30-year-old forward. After signing a seven-year, $54.25 million contract with the Original Six club this past off-season, he has 17 goals and 46 points. While these offensive totals are not bad, they are below what was expected from the veteran.
