The Bruins are squandering Jeremy Swayman's remarkable goaltending.
The Boston Bruins have blown a 3-1 series lead to the Toronto Maple Leafs. As a result, they will play Game 7 against the Maple Leafs on Saturday night in a "win or go home" matchup.
Bruins star goaltender Jeremy Swayman picked up back-to-back losses in the Bruins' last two matchups, and it's a shame. The Alaska native played marvelously in Boston's last two games, as he had a .939 SV% and a .923 SV% respectively. However, due to the Bruins' anemic offense, he did not secure a win in either matchup.
Swayman has been sensational all series, too. He has a 1.60 GAA and a .947 SV% in five games. That kind of goaltending from the Alaska native is more than enough to win, but the Bruins just are not taking advantage of it. They are simply squandering his elite goaltending.
If the Bruins' offense does not pick up in Game 7, they will likely complete their epic collapse and lose to the Leafs. That would be such a disservice to Swayman, especially if he puts together another strong performance in Game 7.
The Bruins need to step up and help out their goalie in Game 7. Losing while Swayman is playing this wonderfully would be such a kick in the teeth to the 2017 fourth-rounder.
