One insider believes that the Bruins expressed interest in this Sabres star.
The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is almost here, and the Boston Bruins are expected to be busy this week because of it. While they are among the top clubs in the NHL standings, they have some noticeable flaws, as evidenced by their recent struggles.
It appears that the Bruins had their sights set on a notable trade target recently because of it. NHL insider Elliotte Friedman wrote in his most recent 32 Thoughts column that he believes the Bruins and New York Rangers reached out to the Buffalo Sabres about star forward Alex Tuch's availability. However, as Friedman noted, Sabres GM Kevyn Adams has "rebuffed requests" to discuss any potential Tuch deals.
While the Sabres have made it clear that they will not trade Tuch, it makes sense that Boston had him on their radar. It is clear that their top six needs a boost, and he would have given them that. This is because he is not only an impactful forward offensively but also provides bite along with it.
Nevertheless, with the Bruins' rumored interest in Tuch, one has to wonder if they will eye the trade market for other notable wingers this week. Some players available include Frank Vatrano (Anaheim Ducks), Pavel Buchnevich (St. Louis Blues), Vladimir Tarasenko (Ottawa Senators), and Anthony Duclair (San Jose Sharks).
