This former Boston Bruins defenseman has landed a PTO with the New Jersey Devils.

Former Boston Bruins defenseman Jakub Zboril has signed a professional tryout (PTO) agreement with the New Jersey Devils.
The Bruins selected Zboril with the 13th overall pick of the infamous 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 76 games over four seasons with the Bruins, he had one goal, 16 assists, and an even plus/minus rating. His time with the Bruins organization ended at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, as he was dealt with a 2027 third-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Andrew Peeke.
Zboril, 27, spent the entirety of this past season at the American Hockey League (AHL) level, posting zero goals, 13 assists, and a minus-7 rating in 46 games split between the Providence Bruins and Cleveland Monsters.

Zboril will now look to impress the Devils during his PTO to earn a contract for the 2024-25 campaign. He has shown in the past that he can be a decent depth defender, so it will be interesting to see if he ends up landing a deal of some kind from here.
In addition to Zboril, the Devils also signed former Bruins prospect Michael Hutchinson to a PTO. The Bruins selected him with the 77th overall pick of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft but never appeared in a game for the Original Six club.
