NHL Player Safety has announced that Boston Bruins defenseman Michael Callahan has been fined $2,018.23 for cross-checking, which is the maximum allowable under the current CBA.

The play occurred in the Bruins' March 26 contest against the Anaheim Ducks. During the matchup, Callahan landed a high cross-check on Ducks forward Jansen Harkins. Following it, the Bruins rookie was handed a four-minute double-minor for high-sticking.

Later on in the contest, Callahan dropped the gloves with Harkins for his first career NHL fight.

Callahan, 25, has appeared in his first 14 NHL games this season with the Bruins, where he has zero points, seven penalty minutes, 11 blocks, and a minus-4 rating. Down in the AHL with Providence this campaign, he has one goal, eight points, and a plus-4 rating in 43 games.
