After a 7-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, the Boston Bruins returned to practice on March 25. Some notable changes to the Bruins' forward lines were made during it.
Bruins forward Marat Khusnutdinov was bumped up to the first line at practice, with David Pastrnak and Casey Mittelstadt as his new linemates. If the Bruins use this trio against the Anaheim Ducks on March 26, it would be a big opportunity for Khusnutdinov to show the Bruins what he can do in a significant role.
Khusnutdinov has shown promise in the early stages of his Bruins tenure, posting two goals in eight games. The young forward's speed and skill stand out, and it would be interesting to see what he could do while playing with a superstar like Pastrnak.
This was not the only change the Bruins made to their forward lines, however. Morgan Geekie dropped from the top line to the second line and formed a trio with Pavel Zacha and Fabian Lysell.
Geekie has formed marvelous chemistry with Pastrnak this season, so it is interesting to see the pair get split up. However, No. 39 has also had success playing with Zacha this campaign, so getting back on a line with him could be good.
On defense, Ian Mitchell skated on the third pairing with Parker Wotherspoon, replacing Michael Callahan. Callahan, on the other hand, formed a pairing with injured star Charlie McAvoy, who participated in practice in a non-contact jersey.
