The Boston Bruins have been struggling without key defensemen Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm in the lineup. Now, another one of the Bruins' top blueliners will be out against the Anaheim Ducks on March 26, at a minimum.
According to The Athletic's Fluto Shinzawa, Bruins defenseman Nikita Zadorov has flown back to Boston due to a family matter.
This is certainly another tough blow to the Bruins' defense, as Zadorov is one of their most important players. However, the Bruins will need to adjust without No. 91 in the lineup against the Ducks as they look to break their six-game losing streak.
With Zadorov out of action, Bruins defender Parker Wotherspoon jumped up to the top pairing with Henri Jokiharju at the club's morning skate.
Zadorov has appeared in 72 games this season with the Bruins, Zadorov has four goals, 17 points, 135 penalty minutes, 183 hits, and a plus-14 rating. The 2013 first-round pick joined the Bruins this past off-season on a six-year, $30 million contract.
