The Boston Bruins will be looking to improve their forward group this off-season after an ugly 2024-25 season. Adding a top-six right winger should be one of their top priorities, and a new interesting name is starting to create chatter as a trade candidate - Nashville Predators star Jonathan Marchessault.

In his most recent Trade Targets board for Daily Faceoff, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported that Marchessault may be open to a change of scenery.

"The belief is Marchessault is open to moving on after one year in the Music City," Seravalli wrote.

With the Bruins needing a serious boost in their top six, Marchessault is a player who certainly could grab their attention. If the Bruins brought him in, he would immediately give their offense a major boost as they look to get back to being a playoff team.

When looking at a potential fit in the Bruins' lineup for Marchessault, he could slot nicely at their second-line right wing spot. It is no secret that the Bruins have had a serious hole at the 2RW spot since Jake DeBrusk left, and acquiring Marchessault would fix that issue. Furthermore, Marchessault would give them another impactful sniper to work with on their power play.

Marchessault would be more than a rental for the Bruins if acquired, too. This is because he has a reasonable $5.5 million cap hit until the end of the 2028-29 season. Yet, when noting that he is 34 years old, there would also be some risk in the Bruins bringing him in. However, with how talented Marchessault is, he may be worth the gamble.

In 78 games this season with the Predators, Marchessault posted 21 goals and 56 points. This is after he had 42 goals and 69 points in 82 games with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023-24. The three-time 30-goal scorer is also a proven playoff performer, as he won both the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy back in 2023.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Marchessault ends up being a player the Bruins pursue. His age could be a concern, but his excellent resume, affordable salary, and the Bruins' need for a skilled top-six winger could make him an appealing target to the Original Six club.
