Jim Montgomery was not happy with Matthew Tkachuk's cheap shot on Pasta.
The Boston Bruins suffered a brutal 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night. With this loss, the Bruins are now tied with the Panthers 1-1 in the series heading back to TD Garden.
While the Bruins did not do much during this matchup, Bruins superstar David Pastrnak showed great courage nearing the end of the game, dropping the gloves with Matthew Tkachuk. As expected, the experienced Tkachuk had the advantage in the fight, but he took it too far. In Tkachuk-like fashion, the well-known agitator threw a cheap shot on Pastrnak when the Bruins winger was already down the ice.
After the late punch, Pastrnak immediately got up and went right back at Tkachuk. Pastrnak was not the only person livid with Tkachuk's dirty play.
Following the game, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said this about the dirty punch: "That's not part of the game to me."
Montgomery's displeasure with Tkachuk's antics should really wake up the Bruins in Game 3. Their superstar forward received a cheap shot, and now it's time for the Bruins to stand up for him.
Nevertheless, this series is really starting to heat up, and it will be fun to see how the Bruins respond to it in Game 3 and onward.
