The Boston Bruins have announced that they have signed recently-acquired defenseman Victor Soderstrom to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $775,000 cap hit.

The Bruins acquired Soderstrom's NHL signing rights from the Chicago Blackhawks on June 13 in exchange for defenseman Ryan Mast and a seventh-round pick. Soderstrom played overseas with Brynas IF of the Swedish Hockey League this campaign, but he will now be officially returning to North America for the 2025-26 season.

Soderstrom, 24, posted nine goals, 37 points, and a plus-28 rating in 49 games this season with Brynas IF. Overall, it was a successful year overseas for the right-shot defenseman, and he will now look to build on that momentum with the Bruins organization from here.

Soderstrom was selected by the Arizona Coyotes with the 11th overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. In 53 career NHL games, he has recorded one goal, 10 assists, and 11 points. He last played at the NHL level with the Coyotes in 2023-24, where he had zero points in three games.

Soderstrom's goal from here will now be to impress at training camp in hopes of landing a spot on the Bruins' opening night roster. Overall, there is no harm in the Bruins taking a chance on the former top prospect, and it will be fascinating to see how he performs for the club from here.
