Pat Maroon did not hold back when speaking with reporters.
The Boston Bruins are down to their last life. After dropping Game 4 by a 3-2 final score, the Bruins now trail the Florida Panthers 3-1 in the series. They now must win all three of their next games against the Panthers, which will be far from easy.
This series has been immensely frustrating for the Bruins on many levels. They have been outplayed, and the calls have not gone their way.
Panthers forward Sam Bennett has been the subject of controversy since returning from injury in this series. He, of course, injured Bruins captain Brad Marchand with a sucker punch and did not receive any discipline from the league. He then scored the game-tying goal after pushing Charlie Coyle into Jeremy Swayman. The NHL did not rule the play as goalie interference when the Bruins challenged.
On Monday, tough guy Pat Maroon addressed the media about Bennett.

"I'm sure everyone's wondering why I haven't done anything. I'll sit here and say it's not like I haven't tried or that I don't want to do anything. I love my captain. I love the guys. I think, trust me, it's a tough business, and everyone's looking at me to do something. And, unfortunately, I try. I am trying, and we can't really focus on that. It's over. It's done with. We gotta focus on winning a hockey game, though."
Maroon then expressed clear frustration and was very honest with the reporters.
"It's frustrating that you guys are trying to do a narrative right now for f*****g nothing, to be honest. We gotta win a f*****g hockey game. That's what it comes down to. Unfortunately, what happened, we gotta turn the page. We gotta find a way."
Maroon also added:
"You can sit here to say I'm not doing my job. Maybe, maybe I'm not. But like I said before, I'm damned if I do, damned if I don't. And I don't want to put my team in jeopardy. I don't want to take a suspension. I don't want to put my team on a penalty kill. I'm doing everything I can... I talked to my captain. I talked to the guys in that locker room. They know. They know I care, and that's the most important thing."

Maroon was incredibly transparent with the media here, and it paints a clear picture of how he's feeling. It will be interesting to see what happens with Maroon and the rest of the Bruins in Game 5 from here.
