The Bruins have extended one of their prospect goalies.
The Boston Bruins have made a roster move, as they have signed goaltender Michael DiPietro to a one-year, two-way contract extension. At the NHL level, he will carry a $775,000 cap hit.
DiPietro, 24, has been having an excellent season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Providence Bruins. In 26 appearances, he has a 17-8-0 record, a 2.52 goals-against average (GAA), and a .917 save percentage (SV%). Overall, he's worked well as a one-two punch with fellow Providence goalie Brandon Bussi, and he's earned this extension because of it.
DiPietro will continue to provide the Bruins with more goalie depth for next season following this move. There's no question that he has taken a step in the right direction in 2023-24, and now his goal will be to continue from here. If he does, perhaps a promotion to the NHL could be in his future.
DiPietro appeared in three career NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks between 2018-19 and 2021-22.
