A former Bruin will be sidelined at a crucial part of the season.
Former Boston Bruins defenseman Jeremy Lauzon will be out for a decent chunk of time. The Nashville Predators announced that he is out week-to-week with a lower-body injury.
This is bad news for the Predators. Lauzon has taken a big step forward with his play this season and is having a career year because of it. In 68 games, he has six goals, seven assists, and a league-leading 327 hits. Fellow former Bruin Garnet Hathaway is second behind him in hits with 268.
Lauzon's taken his game to a new level when it comes to his grit and physicality. This has made him a tougher defenseman to go up against, and it has benefitted the Predators. However, they are now losing a massive part of their bite with him out of the lineup and will need to adjust.
The Predators are in the middle of a tight playoff race in the Western Conference, so Lauzon getting injured is poor timing. Along with that, blueliners Dante Fabbro and Spencer Stastney are also sidelined.
Lauzon was selected by the Bruins with the 52nd overall pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. In 76 games over three seasons in Boston, he had three goals, 11 points, 145 hits, and a plus-12 rating.
