Former Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand has been on fire with the Florida Panthers this post-season. In 22 playoff games with the Panthers thus far, he has recorded 10 goals, 10 assists, and 20 points. He is only getting better as the playoffs carry on, too.
After scoring two goals, including the game-winner, against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5, Marchand now has six goals in this Stanley Cup Final series alone. With this, he has now set a new incredible NHL record.
According to Bleacher Report, Marchand is now the first player in NHL history to score at least five goals in the Stanley Cup Final with two different teams. Marchand scored five goals in the Stanley Cup Final for the Bruins during their 2011 championship year.
This incredible record shows just how clutch of a playoff performer Marchand is. Even at 37 years old, No. 63 is still a superstar, and the Panthers are in a great spot right now in the Stanley Cup Final because of his outstanding play.
Marchand will now look to continue to stay hot for the Panthers, especially with them being just one win away from winning the Stanley Cup. It will be fascinating to see what kind of performance he puts together for the Panthers in Game 6 from here.
