On March 6, the Boston Bruins traded pending unrestricted free agent forward Justin Brazeau to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Marat Khusnutdinov, Jakub Lauko, and a 2026 sixth-round pick. This move has been solid for the Bruins early on, as Khusnutdinov and Lauko are off to good starts with the Original Six club. Khusnutdinov has two goals in five games, while Lauko has two assists in just as many contests.
Brazeau, on the other hand, is having a slow start with the Wild. The 6-foot-6 winger has appeared in six games with the Central Division club since the trade, where he has zero points and a minus-1 rating. He has also recorded only two shots on goal over that span.
Brazeau's tenure with the Bruins also ended with the 27-year-old forward struggling to produce. He did not record a point in his final 12 games with the Original Six club. Thus, his cold streak has been going on for a while now.
Brazeau can produce solid secondary offensive production when playing at his best, but he is still looking to break the ice with the Wild. If he regains his scoring touch from earlier this season, he could be a solid bottom-six forward for the Wild as they look to go on a playoff run this spring.
In 63 games this season, Brazeau has 10 goals, 20 points, 136 hits, and a minus-1 rating.
