This former Bruin has a big task ahead of him.

Former Boston Bruins forward Rick Nash has been named general manager of Canada's team for the 2024 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship. The longtime NHL forward will now help build Canada's roster and staff for the upcoming tournament, which takes place May 10-26 in Czechia. 

Nash, 39, has gained plenty of front-office experience since retiring in 2018. He currently works for the Columbus Blue Jackets as director of player development and is in his third season in the role. He also was assistant GM for Canada at the 2022 World Championship.

As a player, Nash represented Canada on numerous occasions. He was on their Olympic rosters in 2006, 2010, and 2014, where he won two gold medals. He also was on their 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2011 World Championship rosters. 

Nash finished his excellent NHL career as a rental for the Bruins in 2017-18. In 11 regular-season games with the Original Six club, he had three goals and three assists. He also had two goals and five points in 12 postseason games.
