Pat Maroon participated in his first practice since being traded to Boston.
Boston Bruins trade deadline acquisition Pat Maroon is recovering from back surgery and will need some time before he makes his debut. However, the gritty winger took a notable step forward with his recovery today (March 21), as he skated for the first time since being traded to Boston.
Following team practice, Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery had this to say about Maroon returning to ice: "It was his first day on [the ice]. Big Rig is on his way back. Still week to week, and we've talked about his role and what my expectations are."
While Maroon is still being deemed as week-to-week, it is excellent that he was able to return to the ice today. It is a big step for the veteran forward, and now the hope is that he will only continue to improve with his injury rehab.
Once Maroon is healthy, he will give the Bruins some much-needed grit in their bottom six. Along with that, his experience and leadership will be warmly welcomed.
In 49 games this season, Maroon has four goals, 16 points, and 71 hits.
