The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed defenseman Kale Clague to a one-year, two-way contract. At the NHL level, he will carry a $775,000 cap hit.
Clague, 26, appeared in three games for the Sabres this past season, posting one assist and an even rating. The Regina, Saskatchewan native spent the majority of the campaign down in the AHL with the Rochester Americans, recording three goals and 23 points in 42 games.
With this move, Clague will remain an experienced call-up option for the Sabres when injuries arise. In addition, he should remain a crucial part of the Amerks' blueline, as he provides solid offensive production at the AHL level.

Overall, NHL teams can never have too much defensive depth, and the Sabres are maintaining a nice part of their own with this Clague deal. Let's see how the 2016 second-round pick performs in 2024-25 from here.
