If the Sabres want to make a big splash, they should target this Canucks free agent.
We are exactly one week away from the start of NHL free agency, so action around the league is about to get crazy. This year's free agency class has some very talented players who could grab the attention of the Buffalo Sabres.
Yet, when looking at this year's group, one of the top players who the Sabres should make a huge push to bring in is Elias Lindholm.
One of the Sabres' goals this offseason is to improve down the middle. Signing Lindholm would do just that, as they would have him, Tage Thompson, and Dylan Cozens as their top three centers. This would be a lethal group and instantly make the Sabres a bigger threat.
However, what is also great about Lindholm is that he can play on the wing. It is no secret that the Sabres want to add a top-six winger to their roster this offseason, and Lindholm would give them just that.
The Sabres could also use a skilled player who not only produces well offensively but also plays strong defensively. Lindholm fits this description when playing at his best, as he is former Selke Trophy finalist.
With the Sabres looking to break their 13-year playoff drought, they cannot be afraid to be aggressive this summer. Let's see if they end up making a huge push for Lindholm next week from here.
