The Buffalo Sabres made a huge splash at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, trading former top scorer Casey Mittelstadt to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Bowen Byram. It is a move that is benefitting both clubs early.

Mittelstadt, 25, has been impactful for the Avalanche, posting two goals, four points, and a plus-5 rating in five games. The same can be said for Byram in Buffalo, as he has three goals, five points, and a plus-3 rating in seven games.

Mittelstadt appears to be loving his change of scenery, too. The star forward recently had some serious praise for his new teammates. Here's what the former Sabre had to say:

"The most impressive thing about this team, in my opinion, is the speed at which they play at, and the speed at which they practice at. It is intense and demanding, and I am very thrilled to be a part of it."

It is not surprising to hear that Mittelstadt is impressed by his new teammates. The Avalanche have been one of the best teams in the NHL for quite some time and, of course, won the Stanley Cup in 2022. Their high work ethic and skill are the main reasons behind it.

Nevertheless, it appears that Mittelstadt has found a great fit in Colorado. It will be fun to see what he can do with his new club from here.
