The Sabres have an interesting free agent target from the Jets.

The Buffalo Sabres are in a position to make some serious moves this summer. They will enter the 2024 NHL Offseason with plenty of cap space and are expected to take advantage of it as they look to become a legitimate playoff club.
One area that the Sabres should look to improve this offseason is the right side of their defensive group. Their defense is certainly stronger with the addition of Bowen Byram, but adding a high-impact right-shot defenseman would complete their top four.
Enter Winnipeg Jets defenseman Dylan DeMelo.

DeMelo, 30, is having a marvelous season playing on the Jets' top pairing. In 67 games, he has two goals, 23 points, 128 hits, 110 blocks, and a plus-35 rating. If the Jets are unable to extend him, the Sabres need to pursue him.
DeMelo would provide the Sabres with a highly dependable defensive defenseman who plays big minutes and is outstanding on the penalty kill. Along with that, while he is a defense-first player, he also chips in a bit offensively.
Adding a veteran like DeMelo to help mentor the Sabres' young guns on the blue line, like Byram, Rasmus Dahlin, and Owen Power, has the potential to be quite beneficial. Let's see if the Sabres target him from here.
