Bowen Byram was the Buffalo Sabres' big splash at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. They parted ways with their former top scorer, Casey Mittelstadt, to complete the deal, and it's fair to say that they do not regret the move.

Byram, 22, has been an immediate fit in the Sabres' lineup. He has left a great first impression, posting three goals, five points, and a plus-3 rating in his first seven games. Yet, besides contributing offensively, he has looked calm and collected defensively.

While Byram's time with the Sabres is just getting started, it is apparent that he is already emerging as a crucial part of their lineup. He is on the Sabres' top pairing, first power-play unit, and second penalty-kill unit. They are relying on him significantly already, and he's handling it all with ease.

Byram has all the tools to be a long-term part of the Sabres' core as they look to become a legitimate playoff team. He is in his early 20s and is still developing his game at the NHL level. The sky is the limit for this youngster, as he has the tools to be a true star in this league.

In 62 games this season split between the Avs and Sabres, Byram has 11 goals, 25 points, and a plus-4 rating.
