This former Sabre is hanging up the skates again.
Former Buffalo Sabres forward Cody Hodgson has announced his retirement from professional hockey.
Hodgson, 34, initially retired from hockey at the completion of the 2015-16 season due to malignant hyperthermia. However, the former top prospect shocked the hockey world when he made a comeback attempt and joined the Milwaukee Admirals on an AHL deal this season.
Cody HodgsonHodgson looked quite solid for a player who hadn't played professionally in years, posting six goals and eight points in 13 games with the Admirals. However, symptoms from his illness started to return as the campaign went on, which ultimately led to Hodgson calling it quits.
While it is sad to see Hodgson's comeback attempt come to an end, it is incredible that he returned to professional hockey after eight years away due to an illness. That just shows how much of a warrior he is.
In 218 career games as a Sabre, Hodgson had 44 goals and 99 points.
