The Sabres want to add a top-six winger, so let's go over a few of their options.
After a disappointing 2023-24 season, the Buffalo Sabres are preparing for a big offseason. It has already been reported that the Sabres are looking to add a top-six scoring winger to their roster this offseason, and it makes sense when noting that their offense could use more of a punch.
Because of this, let's discuss three top-six wingers who could grab the Sabres' attention this offseason.
While Steven Stamkos has been a center for most of his career, he has played on the wing in recent seasons. While he has switched to the wing, he is still a big-time star in the league. In 79 games this season with the Tampa Bay Lightning, he had 40 goals and 81 points. He followed that up with five goals and an assist in five playoff games.
There is no question that the Sabres could use a superstar forward like Stamkos in their top six. Thus, if he hits the market, the Sabres should seriously make a push for him. He would also give them an experienced leader who has won, which is something they desperately need.
Patrick Kane had a great bounce-back season with the Detroit Red Wings in 2023-24. In 50 games, the 35-year-old winger had 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games. He showed that he is still a star in this league, and the Sabres should have him on their radar because of it.
Kane – a Buffalo native – has long been linked to the Sabres. With the Sabres needing more scoring and a top-six winger, now is the perfect time for them to finally bring him in.
How amazing would it be for the Sabres and Sam Reinhart to reunite this summer? Reinhart just had the best regular season of his career, posting new career-highs with 57 goals and 94 points in 82 games.
Reinhart cemented himself as a legitimate elite forward this campaign, and the Sabres should seriously look to bring him back if he hits the market this summer.
