Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff provided a promising update regarding one of the club's young forwards.
Buffalo Sabres forward Zach Benson has not played since Oct. 19's matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks due to a lower-body injury. However, the youngster returned to the ice on Friday (Nov. 1) for the first time since his injury to participate in the club's morning skate.
While speaking to reporters, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff shared that he expects Benson to return to game action next week.
Hearing that Benson could return to the lineup next week is incredibly encouraging. The 19-year-old is a key part of the Sabres' forward group, and getting him back should give them a nice boost.
Benson showed promise last season as an 18-year-old rookie, as he had 11 goals and 30 points in 71 games. He has zero points and a minus-4 rating in his first six games this season. Once he is fully healthy and returns, we should expect to see him start to heat back up.
