This Buffalo Sabres forward may be off to a slow start, but he still has the potential to break out.
Buffalo Sabres forward Jack Quinn has had a slow start to the 2024-25 season. In five games thus far, the 6-foot-1 winger has just an assist to go along with a minus-4 rating. With the 2020 eighth-overall pick looking to take that next step in his development, this kind of start is less than ideal.
However, when looking at how well Quinn performed just last season, there is reason to believe that he will bounce back. After being limited to only 27 games, the Ottawa, Ontario native still thrived, posting nine goals and 19 points. Had he stayed healthy, he would have likely smashed his current career highs of 14 goals, 23 assists, and 37 points, which he recorded in 75 games during the 2022-23 season.
While Quinn has unquestionably had a quiet start to the new season, there is still a plethora of time for him to heat up and have his big-time breakout campaign. He is being put in a position to succeed with the Sabres, too, as he plays in their top six and on their power play. Thus, it feels like it is only a matter of time before the 23-year-old will break through.
It will now be fascinating to see how Quinn responds to his slow start from here.
